Brainfood Helps YRI Launch YumNet

When YRI began looking for a partner to help redesign and relaunch YumNet, they turned to Brainfood.

Yum! Restaurants International (YRI), a division of Yum! Brands, Inc (YUM!) has launched the latest version of their extranet, YumNet. YumNet is intended to be a one-stop shop for communications and knowledge for their offices and franchisees around the world. Brainfood is their technology and branding partner.

The previous version of YumNet placed emphasis on providing resources for the different business functions of YRI (Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Operations, etc), each with its own distinct look and navigation. Some functions even had their resources on separate servers. Further, Corporate Communications were handled strictly by email.

This resulted in a hodge-podge of sites, with no common identity or branding, making it very difficult to find things. As a result, the potential for YumNet went largely untapped.

A team was formed to create a "one-stop shop." The new YumNet should have a single brand identity, standard navigation, and immediate access to Corporate Communications.

Brainfood was able to deliver on these goals and more. Working with the YRI team, we created a unique brand identity that incorporated Yum! brand standards, yet was undeniably YumNet. Using our experience and current best practices, we created a standard navigation that is flexible and scalable, yet easy to understand and use. We also created a brand new Communications Workflow Management tool, which reduces the effort required to route and publish news and information to a few clicks.

We went further, by building Yumnet on our Click2Build technology, lowering the bar for content contributors, and slashing the costs associated with complex editing tools.

Now YRI business offices and franchisees can easily find the information that they seek. More importantly, they have become partners in content creation which is driving YumNet to be a true resource for global knowledge about running Yum! restaurants.
